Honda Livo Review

  • Overview

Honda Livo 110 is an all-new sporty commuter that will make its entry anytime soon in India. The bike is seen as a substitute for CB Twister if believed to some recent reports due to its miserable sales reports over the past. The company’s decision to retire its 110cc player and bring-in a new one might prove helpful in enhancing its presence further in the country’s commuter motorcycle segment.

Honda Livo is powered by the same 109.19cc, four-stroke, air-cooled engine that serves the entire commuter range of the company. Furthermore, it is also equipped with Honda Eco Technology (HET) that ensures a superior performance along with a commendable fuel economy. The bike is equipped with 80/100-18 tubeless tyres at both ends with robust black alloy wheels. The stopping power is provided by 130mm drum brakes fitted at the front and rear end. The suspension system of the bike comprises of telescopic forks upfront and spring loaded hydraulic shock absorbers at the rear.

The visuals of Honda Livo resemble majorly with the company’s premium commuter bike, Honda Dream Yuga. The front profile gets a sharp headlamp unit with clear lens turn indicators. The fuel tank is perfectly chiseled and looks majestic with the integrated tank shrouds. The side body panels are well-crafted aerodynamically and enhances the overall body flow of the machine. Coming towards the rear, the bike has a stylish black coloured rear body grab rail and a munificent tail lamp unit that looks attractive.

Honda Livo is bolted on a diamond frame and will come with similar body dimensions as that of Honda’s other commuter motorcycles. A maintenance free battery cuts down majorly on the maintenance costs. The instrument cluster of the bike is expected to come analogue comprising of a speedometer, odometer and fuel gauge along with the telltale lights.

KTM duke

KTM Duke 200                                         Rs 1.38 Lac

Editorial Review of the KTM Duke 200 bike

KTM, the Austrian manufacturer collaborating with Bajaj, have given something very special in the form of Duke 200 to those who crave for a performance and to those who still did not get any motorcycle better than the RD 350 of the 80’s. In January 2012 the company made the entry with their 200cc Duke which is going on impressing the Indian enthusiasts day by day.KTM surely has made the machine in a way that no heads go unturned in any neighborhood when the machine passes through it. The machine has no traces of being a gentleman and with the way it behaves on the road, the KTM 390 Duke’s performance compliments its looks completely. The motorcycle has some serious aggressive lines on almost all the components of it, making it an extremely razor-sharp design.
The moniker of a maniac that the Duke 200 earned is more because of the power plant it carries rather than the looks. The brilliantly engineered 199.8 cc water-cooled engine with only one pot habitually acts as a barbarian but it is so well balanced that seldom will it happen that it will make you panic and lets the rider to enjoy the bursts of adrenalin. The engine develops a maximum power of 25 Bhp that passes through the 6-speed manual transmission and X-ring chain to the rear sprocket. The gears are very tall and well distributed, which proves to be an amazing ride for the newbies without taking out that fun factor. The primary gear ratio of 30:80 provides that rapid initial acceleration and makes the KTM Duke 200 a weapon to win those traffic light race instincts. The KTM Duke 200 feels relaxed even during high speed cruising. The Duke 200 does not take much effort to cross the speed limits and with a time of less than 6 seconds on the stopwatch, the 390 Duke has an acceleration rate of a supercar. The dry weight measuring 138 kilos put the KTM Duke 200 in a world of its own.
Thanks to the well-balanced body built around tubular space frame, riding the 390 Duke will always put you in authoritative position and once you get the hold of handling and the brilliantly short turning radius, the rider will never run out of confidence. The sticky rubber from Metzeller makes sure the bike never loses contact with the tarmac. Corner friendly would be the word to describe the KTM Duke 200, the machine loves to tilt on the corners, sticking a knee-out, and you will know the secret recipe of the knee scratching MotoGP riders and that too without losing any confidence. In traffic, taking tight turns to get ahead of the traffic feels like a breeze, the short wheelbase give the feeling of being compact and take the short passages without any fear.
KTM provides advanced equipment list with the Duke 200, the huge Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) with orange backlit supplies the rider with vital information. Apart from displaying speed, time and distance, the rider can also see information like fuel consumed every 100km, instantaneous average, average speed, engine temperature, fuel consumption and various other indicators showing errors that the bike may be going through. The wide handlebars have switches from Bajaj models but the built quality is solid. The stopping prowess of the Duke 200 comes from the 300mm front disc brake with four-pot brake calliper and 230mm rear disc brake with one pot braking calliper. The suspensions, which are performance tuned, are hard and become very uncomfortable when the ride hits the bumps. The Upside down front shocks and the rear mono-shocks makes the ride very balanced.
Overall, the KTM Duke 200 has redefined the Indian sportsbiking in all an new mettle. The Motorcycle comes with the never-seen-before aggressive design, cutting-edge engine, loads of equipment on offer and the exclusivity, which no other bike in this price bracket manages to match. Added to it, the association with Bajaj seals the deal for its long term reliability. That said, one of the most revolutionary bikes Indian soil has ever witnessed.

TVS 2016 Victor

Editorial Review of the TVS 2016 Victor bike

When launched in the year 2001, the TVS Victor bagged many appreciations and applause for being the first self-developed motorcycle by the company. Later, it was discontinued in 2007. Now, after a long wait of more than 8 years, the company has resurrected the Victor brand and launched the facelift variant of the bike. The definition of entry-level segment has significantly changed over the years and it has emerged as a segment that is judged over various verticals such as design and comfort apart from the pricing factor. Despite the same name, the 2016 Victor facelift is totally a revamped unit and is being offered with a host of cosmetic and technological changes that give it a modern touch. It sits between the Star City Plus and the Pheonix in the company's portfolio. The traditional look of the bike is very well complimented by the decals and the paint schemes with which it is offered. The instrument console comes with an analogue tachometer and a digital cluster that integrates fuel gauge, odometer and speedometer. The seating position is upright. Powering the motorcycle is a single-cylinder, air-cooled, four-stroke, 110cc engine that delivers 9 bhp of maximum power and 9 Nm of peak torque. Power is transmitted via a four-speed gearbox. Telescopic suspension is employed at the front, while the rear end gets adjustable dual springs.

Royal Enfield Continental GT Road Test

The pros: Cafe racer styling, excellent ergonomics, powerful engine. Bike rides on Pirelli Sport Demon tyres and braking is done Brembo brakes. The cons: It vibrates badly at high speed, rear brake sometime locks suddenly The crux: Continental GT is meant for those people who love cruising and would settle for a leisure ride rather than it expecting it to be a performer.RatingThe apt phrase ‘Old is Gold’ stands true in many cases, but Royal Enfield should adopt this phrase as their tag line as their bikes always have that classic panache associated with them.
